The Department of Pharmacology caters students with the basic knowledge of drug and medicine which forms the foundation of the medical education. Today, pharmacology has gained importance due to the unprecedented pace of development over the recent years in the field of drugs which has further emphasized the relevance of pharmacology to the health professionals.
In the prestigious medical institute of Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, the department of Pharmacology plays a very vital role in medical education. The department of pharmacology has grown from five rooms in 1964 to almost thirty rooms today, expanding the wings from preclinical animal studies to pharmacology & clinical pharmacology under one roof.
In Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College & General Hospital, department of Pharmacology is one of the huge department situated in the college building on 2nd floor, extending from room no. 1 to room no. 33. The department has recognition for postgraduate, undergraduate, nursing & OT/PT Courses. There are 8 teaching staff members and 17 Non-teaching staff members in the department.
The department also runs the Radioisotope unit and Thyroid Clinic.
