SUB: Report of CME on Dementia conducted by geriatric services at LTMMC, SION on 23rd September 2015.

On the occasion at world Alzheimer’s day which happens on 21st sept. Geriatric services at LTMMC, SION conducted CME on Dementia on 23rd sept. 2015 from 1 pm onwards in medicine seminar hall.

 Program was as follows:-

Unique thing of this program was around 30-35 senior citizen patients with their relatives were involved in active participation and patients education in this program.

Dr. Sangeeta Pednekar professor medicine and I/C Geriatric services did welcome and introduced importance of conducting this program. Mr. Prakash Borgaonkar, director of Helpage India was a guest speaker. He gave patients education about prevention & remedies for treatment of dementia  in Marathi & Hindi. He also gave services provided by helpage india to senior citizens.

This session was more interactive with patients & relatives.

Dr. Sangeeta Pednekar spoke on overview of Dementia which included epidemiology , symptoms , risks factors & how to prevent & detect early. Dietary importance was stressed upon by her.

Patients & relatives were explained in Hindi & Marathi which was educative.

Videos were shown about early detection and treatment. Helpage India video about its services to elderly were presented and appreciated by patients and relatives.

Patients were given booklets for exercise, for memory improvement was appreciated.

Dr Uma Sundar I/C Neurology delivered a lecture on “Approach to dementia”, which was informative for our PG students.

Patients were given snacks and dry fruits for boosting brain. Photos of this CME are attached herewith.
